KUWAIT CITY, July 30, (KUNA): His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah pardoned all people who were accused of offending the Amir, as he expressed optimism that the next parliament would witness development and work on diversification of income. “I am pleased on the occasion of the last 10 days of Ramadan to grant an Amiri amnesty on all those convicted of offending the Amir to be effective immediately,” said Sheikh Sabah in his speech to the nation. His Highness the Amir also said that Kuwait in the 14th legislative term of the National Assembly would witness promising approach toward “horizons of progress of development and serious action for income diversification.”

HH Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad stated “By Allah’s will, we are heading toward a new phase of this new legislative term, where the country will witness a promising launch toward horizons of progress and development and serious work for diversification of income, follow-up on execution of development schemes, execution of vital mega-ventures, through the aspired fruitful and constructive cooperation between the executive and legislative authorities.” His Highness the Amir, who started the speech with a Quranic verse alluding to the faithful who “abide by the best of guidance,” invoking Allah the Almight to accept “our fasting, (night) prayers and good deeds,” congratulated the people on return of the holy month, praying to Allah “to protect our country against illicit and explicit seditions, with consideration to the events taking place in surrounding states and taking lessons to be more prudent to spare ourselves of their ramifications.”

While affirming that Allah grants greater rewards for the faithful during the sacred month, His Highness urged the citizens to seek more of the good deeds and spiritual activities and prayers during the month such as reading the Quran, alluded to the Saturday parliamentary elections, when “Kuwait experienced a democratic ceremony where the citizens practiced their suffrage of choosing their representatives in the National Assembly.” HH Sheikh Sabah praised the nationals who practiced their franchise “affirming authenticity of our democratic march, deep adherence to it, robust loyalty to the homeland and its democratic system. I am please on this occasion to express deep congratulations to those who have attained the honor of representing the citizens, hoping that they prove to be up to the aspirations pinned upon them with respect of shouldering the responsibility laid on their shoulders for realizing aspirations of the citizens,” HH the Amir stated, in reference to the 50 figures who were elected as the new members of the Parliament.

Elaborating on the people’s aspirations, HH Sheikh Sabah noted that the people of Kuwait await to see speedy action for securing better public services, activating development process “free from conflicts and disputes that dampen the energies and slow down pace of achievements.” HH Sheikh Sabah noted that last March, the first national youth conference was held, under the theme, “Kuwait listens,” after which the conferees submitted to him “a significant national document” including a great number of recommendations that concern the young of this homeland, contribute to realizing their aspirations and their future outlooks for the service of the country Kuwait.
