KUWAIT CITY, May 26: The crackdown on residence and traffic violators in Kuwait is turning into harassment of lawful residents, disrupting lives of innocents in areas densely populated by expatriates, says Indian community leaders, who have sent a letter to the Indian embassy and high level political leaders in India complaining about the situation.

The letter was dispatched to the Ambassador of India to Kuwait, Satish C Mehta, Chief Minister of Kerala, Oomen Chandi, Norka Minister of Kerala, KC Joseph, Minister of NRI Affairs, Vaylar Ravi, and Minister of State for External Affairs, E Ahmed.

Speaking to the Arab Times one of the complainants said that in the past few days, the police have been raiding various places, especially Jleeb Al Shuyoukh, where a majority of Indian citizens are residing. “Many of them have been arrested even when holding valid residencies.
