Kuwait to spend KD 1.7 billion on improvement, development of regional roads

KUWAIT: The Engineering Sector in the Ministry of Public Works revealed that it is currently preparing to have four projects ready for tender.

The four projects are related to the improvement and development of regional roads as part of the ministry’s plan to improve and modernize road network in Kuwait according to international specifications, with 550 kilometers in length at the estimated cost of one billion and 700 million Kuwaiti dinars. In a related issue, the Director of office of Public relations (PR) in the Ministry of Public Works Hameed Yousef BuShahri detailed the ministry’s major achievements during the first half (H1) of this year.

“The ministry has been active in terms of construction works as a number of works have been carried out in different fields such as sports, health, education, social, religious and security,” he remarked. BuShahri went on to say that the type of projects which the ministry had completed during H1 of the year were: Kuwait Mute Club, National Library, Kuwaiti Studies and Research Center, main building in the Ministry of Interior, Fatwa and Legislation building, Health Center in Egaila, Al-Shuhada Center, Abu Fatira road services, Al-Siddiq project, Egaila services, treated water project in Um Al-Ramam and the north military camps.

The number of contracts is estimated to reach 23, most important of which is the Minor Affairs Public Authority project. Al-Masila projects, Jamal Abdulnasser road services, Fahaheeel and King Fahad road services, sanitary works in Al-Rai, Al-Ruqai, Prison, Industrial Sulaibiya and in the United Nations Roundabout. The types of projects are divided into three types: 34 construction works, 24 road engineering, 16 sanitary works, as well as big projects related to the islands of Bubyan, where there are several natural reserves and tourist attractions, as well as Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port.
