iPhone 7 Includes Breakthrough New Camera Systems, the Best Battery Life Ever in an iPhone and Water & Dust Resistance.

Apple has launched the next generation of flagship iPhone at its annual event in San Francisco today – the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.

At a launch event, Apple Inc. revealed an upgraded iPhone which is similar to the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus in looks but got several huge differences, including a pressure-sensitive home button, better improved camera, a faster processor and extended battery life. Interestingly company has not included headphone jack.

New iPhone comes in a new beautiful range of colours and a starting size of 32GB which means no more 16GB variant.

Let’s talk about the Features

The most prominent changes in the new iPhone are an upgraded camera, a new home button and the removal of the 3.5mm headphone jack.

Apple has removed the traditional headphone jack and instead introduced earphones that fit into the phone’s Lightning port, currently used for charging and data transfer.

Company has made a bold decision to ship the phone with newly introduced EarPods – which connect through the charging port – and wireless Apple AirPods, powered by a W1 chip.

Infared sensors detect when each pod is in your ear and motion sensors control the headphones to use Siri and detect your voice.These AirPods will provide up to five hours of listening. With the compact charging case, it will deliver 24 hours of total battery life. The pods can connect to Apple watches, laptops and iPads.

The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are packed with stereo speakers – one at the bottom, and one at the top, and they twice as loud as their predecessors.

Camera Features

New iPhone’s camera has been upgraded to enhance its low-light capabilities and is able to take even sharper photos.

The 12-megapixel camera includes optical image stabilization on both iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, and a larger ƒ/1.8 aperture and 6-element lens enable brighter, more detailed photos and videos, and a wide colour capture allows for more vibrant colours with more detail. iPhone 7 Plus features the same 12-megapixel wide angle camera as iPhone 7 and adds a 12-megapixel telephoto camera that together offer optical zoom at two times and up to 10 times digital zoom for photos.

Additional Camera Advancements Include:

New Apple-designed Image Signal Processor, which processes over 100 billion operations on a single photo in as little as 25 milliseconds, resulting in incredible photos and videos;
New 7-megapixel FaceTime HD camera with wide color capture, advanced pixel technology and auto image stabilization for even better selfies; and
New Quad-LED True Tone flash that is 50 percent brighter than iPhone 6s including an innovative sensor that detects the flickering in lights and compensates for it in videos and photos.

Appearance

Apple has replaced space grey with two new colour variants for the iPhone 7. The new models are available in five different colours including two new shades of black.

A matte “black” and a glossy black will join silver, gold and rose gold in the colour options for the iPhone. The new shiny “jet black” finish will be offered exclusively on the 128GB and 256GB models.

The new iPhone models are packed with a 25 percent brighter display along with a wider colour gamut and improved colour management. The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are powered by a new A10 Fusion 64-bit quad core chip, which is 40 percent faster than the A9, and more power efficient, which means the new models have the “best battery life ever” on an iPhone.

Battery life

New iPhone models will have the longest battery life ever. An iPhone 7 lasts, on average, two hours longer than an iPhone 6s and an hour longer than iPhone 6s Plus.

The battery on the iPhone 7 lasts 14 hours when using WiFi and 12 on 4G. The iPhone 7 Plus meanwhile lasts 15 hours on WiFi and 15 on 4G.

Water resistant

The new iPhone 7 & iPhone 7 Plus are water-resistant with an IPX67 rating which ensures that the hardware can withstand immersion in up to 1 metre of water for 30 minutes.
