A number of our readers have asked questions on the employment of women. The following articles of Labour Law are published for your information: Article 23 Women may not be employed at night, with exception of private clinics and some other institutions, about which a decision shall be issued by the Ministry of Social Affairs & Labour.
Article 24 Employment of women in industries or trades dangerous and harmful to health.
Article 25 A pregnant woman shall be entitled to a maximum leave of 30 days prior to confinement and 40 days following confinement with full pay. A female labourer may without pay and after such a period not report to duty for a maximum term of one hunded consecutive or non-consecutive days in the event of any sickness, proved by a medical certificate to be occurred as a result of gestation and parturition.
Article 26 Annual leave entitlements of a female labourer shall be forfeited if she makes use of the privileges secured under Article 25.
Article 27 A female labourer shall be granted a wage similar to that of a man if she carries out the same work.
