KUWAIT CITY: Hawally securitymen on Friday arrested two young Bedouns for the possession of 28 bottles of whisky that were ready for sale.
A patrol team on routine duty along Amman Street noticed the unusual movement of a vehicle so the officers asked the driver to pull over. Upon inspection of the vehicle, the officers discovered 28 bottles of whisky and cash amounting to KD 1,600.
During interrogation, the suspects admitted they were selling alcohol in various parts of the country.
They were referred to the concerned authorities for the necessary legal action.

KUWAIT CITY : In an unrelated development, the Criminal Court Wednesday sentenced a Kuwaiti woman and a Syrian man to 20 months in jail for committing adultery. The court also ordered the deportation of the Syrian after serving the sentence. Case papers indicate a dispute ensued between the woman and her husband because the wife always neglected her husband, home and children and the husband decided to keep a watch on the movements of his wife. One day, he saw her entering a building where the Syrian man lived. The husband went to the nearest police station and filed a complaint. Police rushed to the apartment and arrested the couple in the act. The session was presided over by Judge Adel Al-Saqer.
Meanwhile, The Court of Appeals Wednesday decided to issue a verdict in the appeal filed by Hajjaj Mohammed Adel Al-Saadi, who is known as ‘Hawalli Monster’ on Thursday, Jan 29. During a previous session, defense attorney Montasir Al-Zayyat, told the court the Public Prosecution interrogations were not right because the suspect was deprived of his legal rights. He explained a picture of defense attorney Baker Al-Naeemi was published by a local daily while he waited at the locked gate of the Public Prosecution building in Hawalli. Zayyat also said his client was in police detention for more than one week which is illegal. He was then sent to the Public Prosecution accompanied by investigation officers who attended the interrogation sessions with the man.
The Public Prosecution has charged Saadi with kidnapping and molesting a victim on July 15, 2007. On Jan 15, 2008, the Criminal Court had sentenced Hajjaj to death in case No. 958/2007 — one of many cases which have been filed against the man. The court also ordered to refer the case file to the Court of Appeals within 30 days. The session was presided over by Judge Ibrahim Al-Obaid.

Kuwait : Six youths — four Saudis and two Bedouns — were arrested and referred to the State Security Department for burning Kuwait’s flag and hoisting Saudi Arabia’s flag immediately after the defeat of Kuwaiti national football team in a match, reports Al-Dar daily.
Kuwaiti found dead in tent: A Kuwaiti youth was found dead inside a tent in Mina Abdullah, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily. His remains were referred to forensics to identify the cause of his death.
Asians held for forged entry: Police arrested 13 Asians for entering a restricted zone in Shuaiba Industrial Area using forged entry passes, reports Al-Dar daily. The forgers were seen by a police patrol on duty in the area.

KUWAIT CITY : Two young men were injured after engaging in a fist fight at a mall in Fahaheel on Saturday, reports Al-Seyassah daily. According to security sources, the young men had a heated argument over a girl they saw inside a mall in Fahaheel. The argument escalated into a fist fight, which caused injuries to both men as they punched and hit each other. A case was registered at Fahaheel Police Station and the young men were referred to a nearby hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, securitymen on Sunday arrested a Bedoun, who was found under the influence of alcohol inside his car on Al-Metl’a Road, 15 kilometers away from Al-Abdally, says Al-Seyassah. After receiving information about a drunk Bedoun driving along Al-Metl’a Road, the Operations Room at the Ministry of Interior (MoI) deployed a team of securitymen to the area. They referred the drunk Bedoun to Jahra Police Station. In another development, a nasty fight broke out among a group of five girls in a restaurant in Shamiya, reports Al-Anba daily. Four of them had to be rushed to hospital while the fifth one was referred to police station for damaging restaurant property. |

Kuwait : During a campaign on residence law violators near the Sheraton Roundabout police have arrested 38 persons for violating residence laws, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily. All those arrested have been referred to the concerned authorities. According to security sources the sponsors of the violators will be summoned for interrogation and blacklisted from recruiting domestic workers. Meanwhile, according to statistics released by reliable Interior Ministry sources 1,175 violators of residence law have so far been deported and 1,300 left the country taking advantage of the grace period offered by the government to leave the country without paying fines.
Argument leads to stabbing: An argument between two Egyptians in Hawally escalated into a fistfight, resulting in injuries to one of them, reports Al-Seyassah. After receiving a call about the fight, securitymen and paramedics rushed to the location, where they found the injured with three stab wounds in his abdomen. He was referred to Mubarak Al-Kabeer Hospital for treatment. Eyewitnesses said the suspect used a knife to stab the victim and fled from the scene. A criminal case was registered at Hawally Police Station and police are now looking for the suspect.
